About Rondell
Privacy first.
Notes, saved conversations, settings and the file search index stay on your PC. The index covers only the folders you choose: exclude folders and files, pause indexing or delete the index at any time. Keeping a note or finding a document never needs an upload.
Delete saved conversations and choose how long answers stay in history. Your pill library stays local until you export or share it, and there is no automatic cloud sync. Saved provider keys are encrypted for your Windows account and left out of settings exports.
Local by design.
AI is optional. Opening apps, saving notes, running shortcuts and searching filenames work without an AI provider. For local AI, download a built-in model or connect a model server on your PC. Voice recognition also runs locally once its model is downloaded.
Cloud AI uses your own provider key. A pill that uses a cloud model sends its input, such as selected text, an attached file or a screenshot, straight to that provider under its terms, never through a Rondell server. Pills you set up to call other online services send data to those services. You choose what each action sends.
Built for speed.
Rondell is a native Windows app with the ring at your cursor. Reading documents, indexing files and waiting for a model run in the background without holding up the ring, and answers stream into the panel as they arrive.
File search uses a local index that watches for changes instead of rereading every document for each query. Names and document text are searchable without an AI model; search by meaning adds local models when you choose it. Local models need memory and processing time, so their speed depends on your PC and the model.
Customizable.
Keep the pills you use and remove the rest. Rearrange them, make your own, or build rings for different jobs. A ring can depend on the active app, selected text or selected files. Give a ring its own shortcut, run one pill from a key combination, or record a mouse gesture.
A pill can do one thing or combine actions: read the selection, change the text, ask a model, save a note, open a program or replay a recorded task. You choose what each action uses and where its result goes. Layout, icons, colors, sounds, motion and the tap-or-hold timing are adjustable too.
Transparent.
Open a pill to read its actions and prompts, see the chosen model or service and follow how results pass between actions. The pill builder makes the same editable actions, so you can review its draft, change a prompt or remove an action before saving. Last run shows each action’s result.
The documentation explains what runs locally, what uses a provider and what needs a download. Text written into a pill or recording travels with it when you share it; the sharing guide lists what an export contains and what to back up separately, including notes and saved conversations.
